* China - Vehicle sales rose at the fastest pace in four months as economic growth increased demand
Beijing,China -International Herald Tribune (Paris,France)/Bloomberg News, by By Tian Ying -June 11, 2007: -- Sales gained 25.3 percent to 713,600 passenger cars, buses and trucks in May, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said Friday... Total vehicle production rose 22 percent to 710,200 units. Commercial vehicle sales rose 30 percent in the month to 225,100... The growth in May was the 27th straight year-on-year advance... Beiqi Foton, Dongfeng and China FAW Group were the three biggest makers of commercial vehicles in the first five months, the association said...

* USA - Mitsubishi Fuso re-enters Class 3 market, makes major '08 changes
USA -eTrucker, by Avery Vise -13 June 2007: -- Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America this week announced its 2008 model year lineup, including the Class 3 FE 125 low-cab forward truck that gives the company a Class 3 offering once again... Mitsubishi Fuso had dropped a Class 3 offering in 2005 because it was not ready to offer the onboard diagnostics required. The new FE 125, with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 12,500 lbs., now is equipped with OBD II, allowing it to be sold throughout the United States...

* USA - Market analyst: New truck orders better than expected
New York,NY,USA -Today's Trucking (CAN)/TruckStop (USA) -11 June 2007: -- Preliminary data for both heavy-duty and class 5-7 truck orders shows better-than-expected results in May thanks to international exports. The post pre-buy market in North America is still slow, says transportation experts at Bear Stearns, but class 8 ordered were 15,000 units -- about 3,000 to 5,000 more than the firm's previous forecasts... April truck export orders accounted for 33 percent of all net new orders... Class 5-7 net new orders for May were 14,700, which are down 36 percent from the same time last year... A large top tier supplier told the firm "we could see more competition from Indian truck manufacturers in the European and U.S. markets during the next upturn"... Specifically, noted the source, Mahindra International and Tata Motors are working on heavy duty truck platforms that could eventually be exported to other markets...
