Wilmington,DE,USA -The News Journal, by JEFF MONTGOMERY -Nov 30, 2006: -- A state push to curb pollution from idling diesel trucks will get a boost Friday under a program that offers grants for the purchase of add-on units that provide cleaner heating, air conditioning and electricity... The Mid-Atlantic Regional Small Business Anti-Idling Initiative offers up to $3,000 for small trucking companies and independent truckers based in Delaware... The Environmental Protection Agency has estimated that add-on “auxiliary power units” can safe up to 2,400 gallons of fuel on a typical long-haul truck, reducing soot and nitrogen oxide emissions. The changeover also can save owners up to $7,000 in annual fuel costs and eliminate 19 tons of carbon dioxide exhaust, a pollutant linked to global warming and climate change...
