* Dominican Republic - Diesel shortage continues, jeopardizing transportation
Santo Domingo,Republica Dominicana -Dominican Today -Oct, 11, 2006: -- Diesel fuel supply in stations of the National District and the Santo Domingo province began to normalize yesterday, though in stations across most of the country’s cities and towns, shortage of the combustible persisted, affecting freight transportation as well as agriculture activities... FENATRANO transport union president Blas Peralta informed that, as a result, 4,500 trucks (35% of the country’s freight transportation) are paralyzed, with major counterproductive effects in San Pedro de Macoris, La Romana, Barahona, Pedernales and Santo Domingo ports...
