Danger - Romania - Transporters unprepared for EU market

Bucharest,Romania -Bucharest Daily News, by Ciprian Domnisoru -6 July 2006: -- Romanian transporters are not sufficiently prepared to face EU competition so they must take the proper measures in order to adapt, according to president of the Cargo&Bus magazine, Dan Schnick... He said that there is the danger that, after January 1, 2007, the medium-sized companies that have between 10 and 20 trucks will bankrupt, as it happened in other European countries that joined the EU after 2004... The official believes after EU accession, small companies will either merge or will be "swallowed" by larger companies, or in the worst case go bankrupt... Schnick said that Romania could become a transit country for the road transporters...
