Prince George,British Columbia,Canada -Opinion250 News -4 Apr 2006: -- The newly elected President of the Prince George Trucking Association, Stan Wheeldon, says if the Federal government and the Province want to improve safety on the roads, they should reduce the number of hours the Forestry truck drivers are working every week... "We need to have 12 hour days, five days a week with a longer hauling season" said Wheeldon . He said the National Safety Code is looking at 13 hours driving time a day, plus one hour in service a day, Maximum 70 hours a week, with 36 consecutive hours of rest a week... The BC Forest Safety Council he says is looking at 13 hours of driving time plus 2 “in service “, hours per day with a maximum of 80 hours a week and 30 consecutive hours of rest every seven day week...
