Atshoooo... !!! - USA - Is that the sound of the truck market catching a cold?
UK -Big Lorry Blog, by Brian Weatherley -3 Apr 2006: -- Like the little girl with the curls, when the US market is good it's very good. But when it's bad...well most people tend to lose their lunch with the notable exception of Paccar... And when it IS bad those European manufacturers like Volvo and Mercedes which own large US subsidiaries (e.g. Mack and Freightliner respectively) invariably have to brace themselves for a torrid time and a big hit on their bottom lines... Meanwhile thanks to my journo colleagues on Commercial Carrier Journal in the States I'm told that Freightliner's Class 8 (that's heavy trucks to us European's) factories are preparing for a 40-50% decrease in output in 2007...
