Also, eastern North Carolina is a better location for retaining truck drivers compared to more metropolitan areas, says John Lineberger, manager of sales and service at Old Dominion Freight Lines in Elm City... As a result of the national shortage of truck drivers, drivers have received improved benefits and pay. Drivers are paid a percentage of the company's freight rate, so when a freight rate increase is negotiated, the drivers get a pay raise... However, is actively looking for owner-operators, drivers who own their own rigs. He now employs 90 drivers, 47 of whom are company drivers...
