This study was initiated for an Office of Inspector General recommendation... The Oak Ridge review of SafeStat focused on two issues: (1) the magnitude and impact of missing and late truck crash data on the SafeStat ranking; and (2) issues related to the SafeStat scoring algorithm... Oak Ridge concluded that "most carriers are identified as at-risk by SafeStat due to random variations in the source data rather than a significant change in carrier risk"...
