Alternatives - USA - State officials urge gas stations to offer E-85 fuel

Illinois,USA -Southern Illinoisan, by CALEB HALE -Sept 3, 2005: -- Experts say E-85 fuel could be the tourniquet consumers need to stop wallets from bleeding cash, especially now that gas prices hover at $3 a gallon... And, while corn oil-based ethanol fuels are gaining speed in Illinois, pumping stations need to see a bigger market drive from consumers for flexible fuel vehicles before everyone is on board... Gov. Rod Blagojevich said 70 gas stations in the state offer E-85 fuel at the pumps today. That number stood at 14 a little more than a year ago. It's a sure sign of progress, but state officials urge more stations to offer the E-85 alternative. They're even offering grants to do it...
