Sri Lanka -Lanka Business Online -2 Sept 2005: -- Indian heavy vehicle maker’s local venture Lanka Ashok Leyland tied up Orient Financial Service’s leasing facilities to push its line of Tusker trucks... Leyland officials here said Orient Financial was looking at structuring leasing deals for at least 500 trucks, with some 100 deals already structured for July... The truck and bus maker said the firm was targeting to sell some 4000 truck this year up from 3000 in 2004... The low duty structure on assembled heavy vehicles has also changed Ashok Leylands business model in Sri Lanka... Lanka Ashok Leyland is joint venture between the Sri Lankan government holding 42 percent and Ashok Leyland India holding 28 percent. The rest is held by the public... In addition to marketing buses and trucks, the company also builds truck bodies, water tanks and other special application vehicles, with plans to roll out double-decker buses shortly...
