* Renault Trucks bags vehicle supply contract from Doha, Qatar
Saint Prist,Lyon,France -ABR -26 June 2014: -- French truck manufacturer Renault Trucks has secured a vehicle supply contract from Doha, the capital city of Qatar... The contract will see Renault Trucks supply 190 vehicles of the Renault Trucks C and Renault Trucks D ranges to the capital city... Completion of the contract is expected to make the France-based truck manufacturer a market leader in Qatar by the end of 2014... As per terms of the deal, the company will deliver 180 Renault Trucks C 320 rigids 4×2 and 10 Renault Trucks D 18t rigids 4×2 equipped with compactor bodies with capacities of 16m³ for the C range and 12m³ for the D range...

* Japan - Reconstruction spurs truck demand: Debris removal boosts this year's expected domestic sales to over 800,000 units

Tokyo,Japan -The Daily Yomiuri Shimbun, by Kohei Nakashima -Aug. 20, 2012: -- An Isuzu truck transports disaster debris in Otsuchi, Iwate Prefecture. The license plate number of the truck has been obscured... Transporting debris from last year's devastating Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami has spurred great domestic demand for trucks, with sales of more than 800,000 units expected this year for the first time since 2008... As progress in removing debris in Iwate and Miyagi prefectures continues, domestic automakers have boosted their production of trucks. Foreign automakers also are eyeing opportunities to enter the Japanese market...
The nation's largest truck maker, Isuzu Motors Ltd., has seen a significant rise in domestic sales of its tilt-back dump truck... While production of the truck has increased worldwide, sales of the model targeting the domestic market grew to about 30 percent from 10 percent in autumn last year... According to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association Inc., domestic truck sales in the January-June period this year jumped 37 percent to 414,527 units from the same period last year... On an annual basis, the number is expected to surpass 800,000 units for the first time in four years, the highest since 2008... Of the total, sales of trucks for carrying disaster debris are expected to increase by 10,000 on an annual basis...  The market share for trucks in the domestic market has been steady, a Nagoya-based research company Fourin Inc. official said, but competition is expected to increase...

* USA - June Auto Sales, U.S. industry to 22% gain

Detroit,MICH,USA -Automotive News, by David Phillips -July 3, 2012: -- U.S. light-vehicle sales, paced by Toyota and Honda, rose 22 percent in June as U.S. consumers continued to shake off economic jitters and replace aging cars and light trucks... Automakers -- also helped by falling gasoline prices and new models -- sold 1.29 million cars and light vehicles last month. The seasonally adjusted annual sales rate rebounded from May's 13.8 million to hit 14.1 million, well above forecasts...  

* USA - Used Class 8 Truck Sales Slide, Dealer Inventories Shrink

Chicago,ILL,USA -TruckingInfo -5 July 2012: -- May showed a continued decline in the availability of low-mileage used heavy-duty trucks, according to analysts with Great American Group LLC... According to the American Truck Dealers and Used Truck associations, the average mileage for May was 560,000 miles, which is a historic high compared to a year ago, when the average mileage was 514,000 miles... Dealers also noted a shortage of lower-priced trucks in the $25,000 to $40,000 range...



* Canada - Imports drive June vehicle sales 3% higher

Lifted by a strong appetite for import brands, sales of cars and light trucks in Canada rose 2.8 percent from a year earlier to 169,459 vehicles, according to data compiled by independent automotive analyst Dennis DesRosiers and released on Wednesday... New Delhi,India -DNA, by Kakoly Chatterjee -Jul 5, 2012: -- Truck sales and rentals plunged in June as slowdown worsened in the main demand sectors of manufacturing and mining, affecting the prospects of commercial vehicle makers including Tata Motors, Mahindra and Ashok Leyland... While truck sales (5-49 tonne) plunged 20.05% and multi-axle truck trailer sales fell 27.18%, rentals dropped 3% in the last month, according to an Indian Foundation of Transport Research and Training report on Wednesday... * Malaysia - European CV Registration Fell in January

Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia -ANRPC -29 February 2012: -- Demand for new commercial vehicles in the EU decreased in January by 4.7 percent compared to the same month last year, amounting to 141,120 units, according to new data from Europe's federation of vehicle makers (ACEA). Germany was the only major market to post growth (+3.1 percent), while France (-1.8 percent), the UK (-8.1 percent), Spain (-21.1 percent) and Italy (-31.2 percent) all contracted. The month counted on average one more working day across the region than January 2011...

* Russia - Volkswagen became the leader among foreign vehicles in the Russian market of LCV

Tolyatti,Samara Oblast,Russia -AUTOSTAT -14 Feb 2012: -- By the results of January sales of light commercial vehicles in Russia were 8096 units and it was more by 6,2% than in the previous year...  Russian market of LCV decreased the growth rate in the last months. It should be reminded that the positive dynamics in this segment is observed since January of 2010. By the results of the previous month more than two thirds of sales (67,9%) of light commercial vehicles in Russia were LCV of domestic brands and the rest 32,1% of vehicles were foreign ones... In January GAZ still dominates in the Russian market of LCV – it was sold 3954 vehicles of this Russian brand (-0,1%) in the previous month and it occupied 48,8% of market. UAZ is on the second place, which decreased sales of light commercial vehicles by 3,3% to 1307 units. Volkswagen is the leader among foreign LCV, which sold 760 units and it was more by 83,6% than in the previous year. Sales growth of German brand was provided, first of all, by pick up Amarok, sales of which increased 3,9 times to 238 units. Then Peugeot followed with indicator of 589 of sold light commercial vehicles (+39,6%)...

* USA - Auto Sales Jumped in January

Auburn Hills,MICH,USA -The WSJ -1 Feb 2012: -- Auto makers got off to a fast start in January as new-vehicle sales surged, with several manufacturers reporting big gains over the same month a year ago... Chrysler Group LLC led the way as its January U.S. sales leapt 44% to 101,149 cars and light trucks while General Motors Co., so far, was the only major auto maker to report a decline over a year ago... GM’s January sales fell 6%, reflecting deep discounts and new models that fueled sales gains a year ago. It has since cut back on incentives. GM’s profitable big pickups lost ground last month. Sales of the Chevy Silverado—GM’s top-selling vehicle—fell 4.7% and the GMC Sierra dropped 10.4%. Cadillac brand sales fell 29% from a year ago, with every model in the brand posting declines... The Auburn Hills, Mich.-based company estimated the U.S. industry selling rate, adjusted for seasonal selling patterns, would come in at 13.8 million, which would make it stronger than any month in 2011. Last year the rate was 12.6 million in January...


* Japan - Auto Sales Notch Record Jump

* UK - Significant recovery for UK truck sales in 2011

Dublin,Ireland -Irish Trucker -9 January 2012: -- The UK truck market grew by 25% in 2011, largely due to a strong recovery in the tractor unit sector... Data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows that registrations of new trucks above 3.5 tonnes GVW rose by 24.6% during the calendar year, reaching 42,944... SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt described that registrations remained 16% below the average of the previous decade (51,117)... * Heavy trucks were at the forefront of the recovery in 2011. Registrations of tractor units rose by 52.5% to 18,240, while the number of heavy rigid trucks (over 16 tonnes GVW) registered increased by 27.7%... However, growth was much weaker for * lighter trucks, with those between 6.0 and 16.0 tonnes GVW up by just 16.4%... The number of  * light trucks / heavy vans in the 3.5- to 6.0-tonne GVW category fell by 19.4% to just 5,534...


* Belgium - All figures of the Belgian market in 2011

A few units near it approach the milestone of 10,000 registered units. These figures unfortunately occur rapidly pleasing uncertainty about the future place of the economy, trucking and truck market in 2012, but they also show some wisdom on the part of buyers. * China - Heavy-duty truck sales for full year 2011 expected to reach only 900,000 units

North Olmsted, OH,USA -SearchAutoParts -Dec 29, 2011: -- After several years of rapid growth, China’s heavy duty truck market has been seeing continuous sales decline since February 2011, especially in the second half. The decline is mainly attributed to adverse effects arising from the dark clouds facing China’s overall economic situation, gradual phasing out of the country’s incentive policies, higher level of enforcement of rules concerning driving overloaded vehicles on China’s roads and increasing operating costs... According to statistics released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), sales of heavy duty trucks in the Chinese market for the first three quarters of 2011 were down 9.8 per cent from a year earlier to 712,000 units. Judging from the sales figures for November, the country’s total sales for heavy trucks for the year are expected to be approximately 900,000 units... Industrial analysts are also not optimistic about the sector’s expected sales for 2012. Li Ziliang, a senior consultant at Beijing Horizon Research Consultancy Group, noted that judging from China’s current economic situation and level of outstanding debt, the number of large-scale domestic construction projects are expected to face a decline next year. Combined with other adverse factors, the sector is expected to record zero growth for 2012, with sales basically unchanged from this year...


* Europa - Commercial Vehicle Registrations Up 8.4% In November

Brussels,Belgium -Trailer Body Builder -Dec 20, 2011: -- Demand for new commercial vehicles was up 8.4% in the EU in November, with 171,670 new registrations, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA)... The positive results were mainly supported by France (+9.9%), Germany (+13.9%) and the UK (+19.4%). Spain was the only major market to face a downturn (-14.6%). From January to November, the EU market expanded by 10.5%, recording 1,769,994 new vehicles. While Germany (+18.9%) and the UK (+18.0%) performed similarly, France posted a 5.9% growth and the Spanish market contracted by 5.9% compared to the same period a year ago...  By segment:  * New Commercial Vehicles over 3.5t (excluding Buses & Coaches) – "trucks":   The truck segment expanded by 10.2%, with a total of 27,243 new vehicles registered. All markets saw positive results, from 3.9% in Germany to 5.1% in Spain, 14.6% in France and 21.1% in the UK. In the first eleven months of 2011, strong performances in the major markets led to an overall 29.9% upturn in the region. The German market expanded by 21.7%, the Spanish by 22.1%, the British by 29.61% and the French by 40.4%. Overall, new truck registrations amounted to 288,407 units... * New Heavy Commercial Vehicles over 16t (excluding Buses & Coaches) – "heavy trucks":   November results for heavy trucks showed a 14.5% upturn, the strongest across segments. The EU registered 20,673 new trucks in the month. Growth prevailed in all major markets, ranging from 5.2% in Spain to 12.4% in France, 13.4% in Germany and 24.3% in the UK. From January to November, demand for new heavy trucks was up 37.5%, as all major markets recorded strong double-digit increases which reached 23.1% in Spain, 25.6% in Germany, 42.9% in the UK and 44.9% in France. In total, 216,841 new vehicles were registered...


* Japan - Auto Sales Jump


Tokyo,Japan -The WSJ /Auto Industry News (USA), by YOSHIO TAKAHASHI -5 Jan 2012: -- Japan's domestic auto sales rose sharply in December as car makers sought to make up for lost time after the March 11 disaster temporarily knocked production out of commission... But 2012 looks encouraging, as the government in late December decided to extend existing tax breaks and reintroduce subsidies for fuel-efficient cars in an effort to underpin the key industry... Climbing for the fourth-straight month, sales of new cars, trucks and buses increased 23.5% from a year earlier to 221,960 vehicles in December, up from 179,666 a year earlier, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said...

* Brazil - Oct Auto Sales -10% on Month, -8.3% On Year - Fenabrave
Sao Paulo,SP,Brazil -Dow Jones, by Paulo Winterstein -November 03, 2011: -- Brazilian auto sales in October dropped 10% from September and declined 8.3% from the year-earlier period, as retail sales continue to slow and fleet sales drop...  Car and light commercial vehicle sales in October reached 263,819, down from 293,607 in September and 287,586 in October 2010, auto dealer association Fenabrave said Thursday. Through the first 10 months of the year, sales were up 5.1% to 2.8 million, in line with estimates for 2011 sales growth of about 5%...   Despite interest-rate cuts by Brazil's central bank that started in August, financing costs have risen in a country where about 70% of auto purchases are financed. That has slowed consumer spending somewhat at the same time that companies, more concerned about the global economic outlook, have slowed purchases of autos...  Fleet sales this year accounted for most of the industry's growth, auto maker association Anfavea said in August...


* India - VE Commercial Vehicle sales up 28% in October

New Delhi,India -Press Trust of India/Business Standard -November 02, 2011: -- Auto-maker VE Commercial Vehicles today said it recorded a 28.24% jump in sales of Eicher branded trucks and buses in October at 4,205 units...  The joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors had sold 3,279 units in the same month last year, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) said in a statement...  VECV's domestic sales in October increased to 4,135 units from 3,070 units in the same month a year ago, a rise of 34.69%, the company added...  The exports, however, declined by 66.51% to 70 units during the month from 209 units in October 2010...  VECV's sales of light commercial vehicles in the Indian market went up by 22.69% to 2,969 units during the month from 2,420 units in October 2010...  Heavy commercial vehicle sales recorded 68.14% jump to 686 units last month from 408 units in the same period last year, it added...

* Europe - Car sales mirror economic gloom

Paris,France /Milan,Italy - Reuters, by James Regan and Stephen Jewkes -Nov 2, 2011: -- Car sales figures for October reflected weak consumer confidence in crisis-hit Europe, with Italy and Spain posting falls from the previous year and France and Germany recording only muted rises... Car makers have been enjoying healthy sales in emerging markets but are worried about the outlook for Europe, where governments are struggling with sovereign debt woes and austerity measures are biting into consumer spending power... New car sales in Italy fell 5.49 percent in October year-on-year as recent austerity measures. Italian foreign carmakers' association UNRAE said car orders in Italy in October fell 12.5 percent to their lowest levels on record, pointing to gloomy times ahead... Spanish car sales fell 6.7 percent in October from a year earlier, car makers' association ANFAC said. ANFAC recorded 57,278 new car registrations compared with 61,367 in the same month of 2010, the worst reading for this month since the figures began, the association said... France's new car registrations rose 2.8 percent in October for a 0.4 percent gain over the first 10 months of the year, car makers' association CCFA said on Wednesday... * USA - Pickup, SUVs Dominate September Auto Sales; Chrysler Sales Up 27%

Consumers were thwarted by the high but stable fuel prices. Pickup truck and S.U.V. sales surpassed car sales in the month...  U.S. auto sales in October rebounded after falling in September 3.7% as consumers step up to incentives and Japanese automakers ramp up production...  S.U.V. sales in month soared 9% from a year ago month and pickup truck sales rose 8% from a year ago and about 53% of all sales.
