* UK - Significant recovery for UK truck sales in 2011
Dublin,Ireland -Irish Trucker -9 January 2012: -- The UK truck market grew by 25% in 2011, largely due to a strong recovery in the tractor unit sector... Data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows that registrations of new trucks above 3.5 tonnes GVW rose by 24.6% during the calendar year, reaching 42,944... SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt described that registrations remained 16% below the average of the previous decade (51,117)... * Heavy trucks were at the forefront of the recovery in 2011. Registrations of tractor units rose by 52.5% to 18,240, while the number of heavy rigid trucks (over 16 tonnes GVW) registered increased by 27.7%... However, growth was much weaker for * lighter trucks, with those between 6.0 and 16.0 tonnes GVW up by just 16.4%... The number of * light trucks / heavy vans in the 3.5- to 6.0-tonne GVW category fell by 19.4% to just 5,534...

Brussels,Belgium -Truck and Business -Jan 2012: -- After two years of falling, the Belgian market the truck was well taken in 2011, especially from the tractor. A few units near it approach the milestone of 10,000 registered units. These figures unfortunately occur rapidly pleasing uncertainty about the future place of the economy, trucking and truck market in 2012, but they also show some wisdom on the part of buyers. Wisdom should avoid too heavy fall in 2012.
