* Mexico - Break into trucking yards for U.S. load info

Nuevo Laredo,Mexico -Land Line, by Charlie Morasch -December 29, 2011: -- Armed with guns and threats, thugs with ties to Mexican organized crime organizations reportedly strolled into five different trucking yards in north Mexico last week... Instead of stealing cargo or cash, however, the group was looking for something more valuable: routing information for U.S. bound loads...  Details about the crimes are scant, but a group of organized crime members allegedly broke into five different trucking yards in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico last week, threatening security guards and sending information digitally to learn about loads heading into the United States...  The incident was reported by the FreightWatch International logistics security firm, which says the group was looking specifically for truck departure times and escort data, and remained on-site for some time, documenting load information and sending it “to their counterparts via handheld communication devices” ...  Mexican drug cartels have used tunnels, swimmers and hang gliders to bring drugs into the U.S., but few methods can carry the volume and even security of hiding drugs in legitimate cargo loads, but trucking remains king...
