* Europe - Car sales mirror economic gloom
Paris,France /Milan,Italy - Reuters, by James Regan and Stephen Jewkes -Nov 2, 2011: -- Car sales figures for October reflected weak consumer confidence in crisis-hit Europe, with Italy and Spain posting falls from the previous year and France and Germany recording only muted rises... Car makers have been enjoying healthy sales in emerging markets but are worried about the outlook for Europe, where governments are struggling with sovereign debt woes and austerity measures are biting into consumer spending power... New car sales in Italy fell 5.49 percent in October year-on-year as recent austerity measures. Italian foreign carmakers' association UNRAE said car orders in Italy in October fell 12.5 percent to their lowest levels on record, pointing to gloomy times ahead... Spanish car sales fell 6.7 percent in October from a year earlier, car makers' association ANFAC said. ANFAC recorded 57,278 new car registrations compared with 61,367 in the same month of 2010, the worst reading for this month since the figures began, the association said... France's new car registrations rose 2.8 percent in October for a 0.4 percent gain over the first 10 months of the year, car makers' association CCFA said on Wednesday... Belgian car sales fell 2.5 percent in October, industry body FEBIAC said... New car registrations in Germany edged up by only 1 percent in October as sales of foreign makes fell in Europe's biggest economy, automotive industry association VDA said. German car makers in particular have been benefiting from strong demand from emerging markets including China, offsetting the European gloom...
* USA - Pickup, SUVs Dominate September Auto Sales; Chrysler Sales Up 27%
Woodcliff Lake,NJ,USA -123 Jump, by Mukesh Buch -November 02 2011: -- U.S. auto sales were robust in September after consumers accelerated purchase of larger vehicles to replace old cars. Consumers were thwarted by the high but stable fuel prices. Pickup truck and S.U.V. sales surpassed car sales in the month... U.S. auto sales in October rebounded after falling in September 3.7% as consumers step up to incentives and Japanese automakers ramp up production... S.U.V. sales in month soared 9% from a year ago month and pickup truck sales rose 8% from a year ago and about 53% of all sales. Despite the elevate fuel prices, consumers prefer larger vehicles as more consumers finally join to replace their nine year old vehicles... For the year so far, total light vehicle sales increased 10.1% to 10.54 million from 9.57 million, passenger car sales increased 8.6% to 5.21 million from 4.80 million and light truck sales increased 11.7% to 5.32 million from 4.77 million...
* India - Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland see strong trucks sales in Oct

Mumbai,India -Bloomberg, by Shally Seth Mohile -Nov 3, 2011: -- Tata Motors Ltd and Ashok Leyland Ltd reported strong truck and bus sales in October because of an increase in construction activity that boosted demand for tippers... Enforcement of an overloading ban in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar also helped in increasing sales, said executives at the firms... Sales at Tata Motors, India’s biggest truck maker, gained 13% to 38,714 units in October from a year earlier... Ashok Leyland Ltd, the country’s second largest truck and bus maker, reported sales rose to 5,100 units from a year ago...
