* Alabama - Truckers, registered nurses among most sought after workers in state, nationwide

-- While trucking industry revenues reached an all-time high and some hourly wages in the industry were reportedly increased, truckers remain some of the most sought after workers in Alabama and nationwide, according to data. The Alabama Department of Labor reported 8,200 online advertisements were made for truck drivers, registered nurses and supervisors combined in April in the state. Despite the 3.4 million drivers who worked in trucking in 2014. Alabama Department of Labor communications director Tara Hutchison said the trucking industry faces significant turnover rates as well as an older workforce... Heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers in the state earn an average $19.91 per hour, according to the state labor department... Different companies tend to offer incentives for additional drivers in an effort to employ more workers. “You have some companies that offer retirement or sign-on bonuses" ...
