-- Cummins Inc. said new regulations on engine exhaust and its expanded line of engines are propelling sales in China, as the engine maker’s other international markets are slumping... The company topped fourth-quarter sales and profit expectations, but offered a lower-than-expected outlook for 2015 that relies on sales growth in China and North America offsetting weaker demand in other geographic markets... Demand for construction and mining equipment and commercial trucks has been falling in China amid slower economic growth and a sluggish construction industry... But truck manufacturers are turning to Cummins’ engines to comply with China’s new emissions standards. Cummins’ experience with meeting stricter pollution regulations in Europe and the U.S.A. gives the company an advantage over Chinese engine suppliers facing big investments to modify their engines for the new regulations.
