* New York - Trucker Stories: Drivers try to dig out trucks after spending night stuck 

Buffalo,N.Y.,USA -WIVB/News 4, by Elysia Rodriguez -November 19, 2014: -- It was an impossible situation for many drivers, the snow piled up so quickly Tuesday morning that traffic literally froze... Lito Castillo spent the night in his big rig. He had food and water but began to run out of gas... He said, “Oh it’s very cold, terrible but still we handled it” ... Castillo, like many truck drivers, did not want to leave their loads unattended... 


* NY - Stranded trucker: Almost free from Buffalo snow storm 

Buffalo,NY,USA -WDTN, by Katherine Loy -November 19, 2014: -- A truck driver from Vandalia is among those stuck on the New York State Thruway in Buffalo, where cars are buried in snow. Mic Brennan told 2 NEWS he’s been sitting on I-90 in since 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday. He says he saw some people being rescued by snowmobile riders Tuesday night, but they were unable to reach him. He says he’s better off staying inside his heated truck until its dug out. He says otherwise, the truck would most likely be towed and he’d have to deal with that later on... Brennan says by Wednesday morning, some cars were no longer visible under the snow...

* Ohio - Snowstorm strands Akron trucker 35+ hours on Buffalo interstate

Akron,OH,USA -FOX 8 Cleveland, by DARCIE LORENO and GABE SPIEGEL -NOVEMBER 19, 2014: -- A truck driver from Akron has been stuck for more than 35 hours in the wintry Buffalo weather... Doug Still, 55, was on his way back to Ohio from Buffalo late Monday night on Interstate 90 westbound when the storm hit... At about 11 a.m. Wednesday, Still said he was about 15 miles south of the downtown area, and his photos show he is buried in snow... He said he’s just one of 75 big rigs and other vehicles on his stretch of road that are under more than five feet of snow... While the National Guard is in the area, Still said the remaining drivers stuck on the interstate won’t likely won’t be freed before Thursday...

New York, Michigan - Lake-effect storms causing havoc in

Buffalo,NY,USA -The Associated Press/The Trucker News -18 Nov 2014: -- Lake-effect storms are wreaking havoc along the Great Lakes... Here is a detailed list of travel situations in New York as provided by the New York State Motor Truck Association: 

 • NYS Thruway is closed in both directions to all vehicles between Exit 46 in Henrietta and Exit 59 in Dunkirk.
 • The I-190 Niagara Thruway is closed Southbound between Exit 16, I-290 and the I-90.
 • All tandem trailer combinations are banned on the NYS Thruway between exits 46 and 61.
 • US Route 219 is closed in both directions between I-90 (NYS Thruway) and Olean Road in Aurora.
 • Route 5 (Buffalo Skyway) is closed in both directions between I-190 (Niagara Thruway) and Tifft Street in Buffalo. 

 A travel ban has been issued for: • Town of Marilla • Town of Elma • Village of Lancaster • Town of Lancaster • Town of Orchard Park • Village of Orchard Park • Town of Evans • South Buffalo A travel advisory has been issued for: • Village of Blasdell • Town of Hamburg • Village of Hamburg... 

Meanwhile in Michigan, icy roads and winds gusting to 44 miles per hour are causing dangerous driving conditions in parts of Michigan as the state braces for another round of lake-effect snow... The weather service says the Lake Michigan shoreline could see 6-16 inches of snow by Tuesday, while 4-18 inches could fall along Lake Superior...

After a brief run up for winter weather, the city's trucks are now being converted back into their fall form as snow plows are removed and leaf equipment reattached. The city released a new schedule for leaf pickups Tuesday morning...
