* USA - ‘Phenomenal’ truck orders show strength of U.S.A. economic recovery 

Columbus,IND,usa  -JOC, by William B. Cassidy -Nov 08, 2014: -- Anyone who doubts the U.S.A. economic recovery is building muscle should talk to a truck salesman... Net orders for the Class 8 trucks that literally keep the economy in motion were “phenomenal” in October, FTR Associates released preliminary data showing October 2014 North American Class 8 truck net orders at 45,795 units... After two strong quarters of freight demand and higher rates, motor carriers are beginning to add capacity... Demand for medium-duty Class 5 to 7 trucks is increasing, too, ACT President and Senior Analyst Kenny Vieth, said, the preliminary 21,700 Class 5-7 net orders reported by ACT for October was the best order volume since April, up 14 percent compared to last October and 11 percent sequentially, he said... The biggest obstacle to expanding truck capacity right now isn’t carrier ability to finance or purchase equipment, but hiring and keeping truck drivers. Trucking employment has been rising more quickly in recent months, but carriers still say there aren’t enough drivers...
