Sydney,NSW,Australia -ATN -August 7, 2013: -- A recall notice has been issued on variants of the Mitsubishi Canter light truck built during an eight-year period up to two years ago... The notice, issued by Product Recalls Australia, applies to more than 3,700 vehicles manufactured between July 25, 2003 and July 5, 2011... “It is possible that the fuel pipes may have been incorrectly manufactured or not tightened correctly and could crack,” the notice says... A letter will be sent to affected owners, the notice says... A spokesman for Fuso says the recall applies to 4M5 engines...
* NSW / Australia - Hino offer of free reversing camera on light duty trucks

The reversing camera complements what Hino describes as the “raft of technologically advanced standard safety systems” in the 300 series... Other safety systems available on the 300 Series include hill-start assist fitted as standard to trucks with manual transmissions...
* India - Tata Motors: No signs of turnaround in domestic truck biz

Mumbai,Maharashtra,India -Moneycontrol, by Nachiket Kelkar -Aug 07, 2013: -- India's largest commercial-vehicle (CV) maker Tata Motors says domestic demand for trucks remains sluggish and there are no signs of a turnaround yet... Ravi Pisharody, ED, head - CV business unit, Tata Motors says, the company will continue to launch new products, which includes new variants and engine options in its top-end Prima truck range and the Ultra range of trucks will also be launched in 2-3 months... Further, C Ramakrishnan, CFO, Tata Motors said that high marketing costs due to the increased competitive intensity was hurting margins... The company's current CV capacity utilisation stands at 60 percent, while passenger vehicle capacity utilisation is around 40-50 percent...
* China - BAIC buys truck maker Zhenjiang Automobile
Shunyi District,Beijing,China -Cars News China, by Tycho de Feijter -August 8, 2013: -- State-owned vehicle manufacturer Beijing Auto Industry Corporation (BAIC) has announced it will buy the smaller domestic truck maker Zhenjiang Automobile. Beijing Auto did not disclose the value of the deal but said in a statement it would invest 15 billion yuan ($2.45 billion) in Zhenjiang Automobile to expand production... Zhenjiang Automobile is currently a subsidiary of the China Jinggong Group. It has an annual capacity of 10.000 heavy trucks and 5.000 special vehicles. It has heavy truck production bases in the city of Zhenjiang in Jiangsu Province and in the city of Hohhot in Inner Mongolia... Zhenjiang Automobile sells trucks under the brand names Jinggong and Shenye. Whether BAIC will continue to use the Jinggong name is not clear. BAIC hasn’t announced where Zhenjiang Automobile will fit within its organization, but it will most likely become part of Foton, a BAIC subsidiary that makes commercial vehicles, including heavy trucks...
