(Photo: A Cummins' EPA10 engine) Washington,D.C.,USA -Truck News (CAN) - Aug 1, 2013: -- EPA10 generation engines now make up 11% of all heavy truck registrations in the US, and have reduced fuel consumption by as much as 560 million gallons while keeping 5.7 million tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere... Those were the findings of the Diesel Technology Forum, which shared its results with the California Energy Commission... Other findings included: More than 20% of the US heavy-duty fleet is using EPA07 or newer generation engines; NOx and PM emissions from heavy trucks have been reduced by more than 95% over the past 25 years; between 2006 and 2012, a million tonnes of NOx and 27,000 tonnes of particulate matter have been eliminated; and the fuel savings from EPA10 engines equate to an average of US$3,500 per truck each year...
