Brussels,Belgium -DPA/Europe Online -12 August 2013: -- Russia has postponed the introduction of extra customs requirements for lorries entering its territory, the European Union said on Monday... The EU has complained that the new measures will have severe consequences for its transport industry... The plans were to have gone into force on Wednesday, but will not now take effect until September 14... The EU has said the new measures will lead to the "serious disruption of trade flows" between the EU and Russia and the possibility of massive queues at Russian border points... The existing rules allow transit goods to move across borders without the payment of duties and taxes... The new plan would see procedures for freight entering Russia brought into line with the rules of a customs union formed by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan... The European Commission said it was continuing to follow the matter closely...
