* DC - 2014 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon recalleds  for brake issue

Washington,DC,USA -The Car Connection, by Suzanne Kane -Aug 12, 2013: -- General Motors is recalling a small number of 2014 model year Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe and GMC Yukon, Yukon XL full-size SUVs to address a possible brake issue... A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website puts the total number of vehicles potentially affected by the recall at just 10... In affected vehicles, the rear brake caliper bolts may not be tightened to specification... Loose brake caliper bolts may reduce braking performance and result in longer stopping distances, both of which may increase the risk of a vehicle crash...


* DC - 2012-2013 Ford Focus Electric, 2013 Focus ST: Recalleds for lighting defect

Washington,DC,USA -The Car Connection, by Suzanne Kane -Aug 12, 2013: -- Ford is recalling certain 2012 and 2013 model year Focus Electric and 2013 Focus ST compact cars for a problem with malfunctioning headlights... A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website puts the number of vehicles potentially affected by the recall at 6,308. Affected vehicles are those equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps... According to the NHTSA notice, wiring incompatibility may result in the malfunctioning of the front side marker lamps in affected Focus Electric and Focus ST vehicles. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS)... Failure of the front side market lamps reduces visibility, which increases the risk of a vehicle crash...


* New Jersey - Subaru recalls 2014 Legacy, Outback, and 2013 Tribeca

Cherry Hill,NJ,USA -The Car Connection, by Suzanne Kane -Aug 12, 2013: -- Subaru is recalling certain 2014 model-year Subaru Legacy and Outback and certain 2013 model-year Tribeca vehicles to fix a potential transmission problem... A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website puts the number of vehicles potentially affected by the recall at 202. Affected vehicles were built from June 12 through June 28, 2013 and are equipped with automatic transmissions... The NHTSA bulletin says that in affected vehicles, the parking rod may detach inside the automatic transmission... With a detached parking rod, the driver may not be able to move the vehicle from the “Park” position. In addition, even if the transmission is shifted into the “Park” position, the parking mechanism may fail to engage. This increases the risk of a roll-away, crash and potential injury...
