NEW Chrysler's "RAM" COMMERCIAL VAN * USA

* Michigan - Ram to add second, smaller Fiat-based commercial van

Auburn Hills,MI,USA -Fleet Owner -Jun. 11, 2013: -- The newly named president and CEO of Chrysler’s Ram Truck Brand operation has confirmed that a second Fiat-based van will be joining the Ram commercial-truck lineup... Reid Bigland told reporters at Chrysler’s headquarters yesterday that the new as-yet-unnamed van will be based on the Fiat Doblò Cargo van and will be launched here within 18 to 24 months... The Doblo-based van will replace the outgoing Ram C/V Tradesman van, which is based on the Dodge Grand Caravan minivan... The new, smaller commercial van will join the Fiat Ducato-based ProMaster full-size van in the 2014 Ram line. According to Ram, the Ducato was reconfigured for the North American market as the ProMaster. That van will begin production in the third quarter of this year at the Chrysler plant in Saltillo, Mexico... 


* Illinois - Navistar loss $374 million but, strong increase in May orders

Warrensville,ILL,USA -Truckinginfo -June 10, 2013: -- Navistar International Corp. announced a second quarter net loss of $374 million, compared to a second quarter 2012 net loss of $172 million. At the same time, it said it has seen a strong increase in May Class 8 orders and announced it will start adding SCR aftertreatment to its medium-duty trucks... Jack Allen, Navistar's chief operating officer, notes that May orders were up 38% versus the average sales rate for the previous quarter, driven higher by strong interest in the MaxxForce 13-liter with SCR and the ProStar ISX... With its heavy duty launches essentially completed, the company is turning its focus to adding SCR aftertreatment to its medium-duty products. Navistar announced it will use Cummins SCR on medium-duty engines, which it will begin to make available in the first quarter of calendar year 2014...


*  Ohio - Eaton Corp. considers selling auto parts division for $1 billion

Beachwood,OH,USA -Bloomberg/Transport Topics -10 June 2013: -- Eaton Corp. is considering the sale of its auto-parts unit that may be valued at $1 billion... The proposed sale would not include the truck parts division and would allow the Cleveland-based company to focus on its growing power and lighting operation, Bloomberg reported... Eaton’s auto unit generated 10% of its sales in 2012 and its truck-parts business accounted for 14%... The truck and auto component maker expects the auto-parts unit to attract bidders as car sales are on the rise and there is continued growth potential...
