* France - Renault Trucks to unveil new range

Lyon,France -Irish Trucker News -6 May 2013: -- Renault Trucks will reveal its new range of commercial vehicles on June 11th this year... The unveiling of the new range in Lyon is the culmination of seven years of work and will mark Renault’s move to the Euro 6 engine standard, which becomes compulsory on January 1st next year... Renault says the 11- and 13-litre engines for the new construction and long distance ranges would be the most environmentally-friendly and the quietest trucks it has ever produced... Also, rather than use cooled EGR technology, Renault has developed its own system for re-injecting hot exhaust gases into the air intake. It says this ensures good combustion and increases the efficiency of the post treatment system, which requires high temperatures to operate under optimal conditions...


* NY - Fiat, Cummins look for traction in sliding truck market

New York,NY,USA -Dow Jones Newswires/Fox Business, by Bob Tita -April 30, 2013: -- Truck and engine manufacturers Fiat Industrial SpA and Cummins Inc. are counting on rebounding sales of commercial trucks this year after seeing demand for trucks skid for most of the past 12 months... Italy's Fiat blamed a 15% decline in first-quarter profit on a loss at its Iveco commercial truck and engine unit. Iveco swung to 9-million-euro ($11.7 million) loss in the quarter following a EUR63 million profit a year ago. Fiat Industrial trimmed it profit-margin forecast for 2013 to 7.5% to 8.3% from 8.3% to 8.5%, but Fiat Chairman Sergio Marchionne said he expects Iveco's results to improve as the year unfolds...


* India - Daimler to produce ‘FUSO’ trucks at Chennai facility

Chennai,India -The Hindu Business Line -May 6, 2013: -- Truck manufacturer Daimler, 100 per cent subsidiary of Stuttgart-based Daimler AG, will produce “FUSO” trucks at its Chennai facility along with BharatBenz range of trucks, a top official said today... Daimler India from the second quarter of 2013 will be ready to make trucks in India under the established FUSO brand for sales in price-intensive export markets in Asia and Africa, the firm said in a statement... Nothing that DICV would continue focus on the Indian market with BharatBenz range of products... Under the Asia Business Model, Daimler would make a “decisive contribution” to the sales target of over five lakh units by 2015 and more than seven lakh trucks by 2020 and aims to increase sales in Indonesia, Taiwan and Malaysian markets... 


* India - Mahindra introduces new Genio pick-up truck in South Africa

Mumbai,Maharashtra,India -CarTrade -May 2, 2013: -- Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, the country’s leading utility vehicle manufacturer, has introduced a new variant of its Genio one-tonne pick-up in the South African auto market. The launch of new Genio model has made South Africa the first country after India to get the popular pick-up truck. As per reports, Mahindra’s pick-up truck range has become quite a rage in the African nation... Mahindra and Mahindra had modified its domestic products for the South African auto market in the past. The company’s top models, such as Bolero, Scorpio, Thar and Xylo have been adapted for sale in the African nation. However, Mahindra has claimed that its new Genio pick-truck has been developed in-line with the company’s new approach to its Research and Development departments...


* China - Truck manufacturer to build factory in Brazil

Xi'an,Shaanxi Province,China -Macau Hub -May 2, 2013: -- Chinese group Shaanxi Heavy Duty Automobile Import and    Export Co. (Shacman) plans to invest 400 million reals (US$200 million) in building a factory in Brazil to manufacture heavy and ultra-heavy goods vehicles, the Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper reported Tuesday... According to the newspaper, the new factory is expected to be built in the city of Tatuí, in the interior of the state of Sao Paulo and will have capacity to produce 10,000 units per year... The Brazilian unit of the Chinese group is expected to start operating in mid 2014 and its owners will be Brazilian company Metro Shacman and the Chinese group itself... Metro Shacman, which was founded in 2010, has its headquarters in the city of Boituva, in Sao Paulo state, and imports and sells Shacman trucks across the whole of Brazil and the Mercosur countries (Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia and Uruguay)...
