* UK - United Pallet Network reveals Euopean service expansion plan
Park Melton Mowbray,Leicestershire,UK -Commercial Motor (UK), by Chris Druce -17 April 2013: -- The United Pallet Network (UPN) hopes its move to make European delivery as simple as possible, via an upgrade to its IT, will tempt more hauliers to make European pallet work a mainstay of their operations... UPN has upgraded its IT to provide real-time, instant pricing, quotes and online ordering for Europe, as it looks to facilitate more cros- border trade within its membership... The new service, which includes auto postcode look-up, is designed to make it as easy as possible for its 65 depots to supply a range of services to 26 countries from within the existing UPN system via a new web portal... UPN member research had previously found that the time taken to specify and price European freight deliveries was too great compared with the income it generated, something it hopes the new functionality will address...
* UK - Boughey puts Schmitz Cargobull to the test
Cheshire,UK -HGV UK -April 15, 2013: -- Boughey Distribution is putting the first Schmitz Cargobull Euroliner (S.CS Universal) to the test within its 280-strong trailer fleet. The trailer also stands out for featuring the new FIXStrap proprietary load securing system offered by Schmitz Cargobull in association with NWE Network Engineering... Paul Brimelow, Boughey’s Group Fleet Engineer, will be monitoring the trailer’s performance over the coming months, as he assesses how it copes with UK operations versus conventional curtainsiders...
