* Germany - The group leading the Deutsche Bahn "mixed results" of its transport and logistics activities in 2012

-WK Transport et Logistics, by Anne Kerriou -8 April 2013: -- Deutsche Bahn Group recorded a decline of rail freight in 2012, both in volumes and revenues. DB Schenker Logistics, which includes freight forwarding and logistics, for its part, shows a modest increase... The overall growth of Deutsche Bahn in 2012 owes much to the passenger. In the end, the Group recorded a net profit of 1.5 billion euros for a turnover of 39.296 billion (+3.7%) and releases an operating profit of $ 2.7 billion, up 17.3%... Activities of freight forwarding and logistics, united under the banner DB Schenker Logistics, generate nearly 40% of total revenues of the group. But growth has proved modest in 2012: 0.5% to 15.389 billion euros. Meanwhile, operating income rose 3.7% to € 418 million...


Luxembourg - UPS will appeal the prohibition of its merger with TNT Express

Luxembourg -AFP/WK Transport et Logistics -8 April 2013: -- According to the Wall Street Journal, UPS will appeal to the European Court of Justice of the prohibition of its merger with TNT Express. The proposed merger remains buried... UPS will enter the European Court of Justice on the sentence January 30, 2013 by the European Commission, which prohibited the merger between the U.S. express delivery and TNT Express... UPS wants to "ensure that there is no precedent that could impact future acquisitions," said Peggy Gardner, a spokesman for UPS...   In turn, TNT Express said in a statement on April 8, "take note" of the decision to UPS. The company confirms that this approach does not absolutely "the filing of a new offer or reconsideration of the previous" ... The call UPS will be considered by the Court of Justice in Luxembourg and the process could take more than a year, says the Wall Street Journal...


* Belgium and France - Dismantling of a band that robbed trucks in

"Very large quantities" of stolen goods, including tobacco, cosmetics and hardware, were found in three warehouses in Belgium and searched April 3rd, 2013, stated that the federal prosecution... A dozen suspects were arrested that day in the Brussels region. Four of them were taken into custody and released under two conditions. One of those is Belgian and other Albanian nationals, according to the same source... The investigation started in Brussels in November 2012, it was determined, with the collaboration of the French court, that the band was "professionally structured" and it was on the whole Belgian territory, but also in the north France, where the authorities were facing an "epidemic of such flights" ... "Most thefts were committed in international transport truck drivers at rest areas on highways" but also in warehouses, note the Belgian courts.  * France - Limousin Loctrans insolvent

Its turnover was 13.15 million euros in 2011... For now, the direction of Limousin Loctrans, which has 130 employees, including a hundred drivers, declined to say whether it would present a continuation plan under receivership, and secondly if other branches of the group were also in trouble... Limousin Loctrans is indeed an offshoot of Transport Maillet...
