* New Light Commercial Vehicles up to 3.5t – “vans”: Eight months into the year, demand for new vans decreased by 11.5%, totaling 916,981 units. Germany (-1.2%), France (-7.4%), the UK (-8.1%), Spain (-25.0%) and Italy (-36.0%) were all affected by the downturn.
* New Heavy Commercial Vehicles over 16t (excluding Buses and Coaches) – “heavy trucks”: Over eight months, performances were diverse across countries, resulting in an overall 6.2% contraction of the EU market. The UK registered 14.9% more trucks than in the same period last year, while France (-4.1%), Germany (-5.9%), Spain (-21.2%) and Italy (-30.2%) all saw their markets decline...

* Sweden - The first new Volvo FH sold for a record price on eBAY
Stockholm,Sweden -Materials Handling World -2 October 2012: -- Going once, going twice - sold ! The eBay charity auction for the first new Volvo FH to roll off the production line has been a true success. The winning bid of 150,000 Euros (£120,000) greatly exceeds the market price and all proceeds will go to the Star for Life programme... The winning bid was placed by Jean-Pierre Ducournau, founder of Ducournau Transports in France, with a fleet of more than 300 Volvo trucks. He is now the proud owner of the first new series-built FH - a visibly unique special-edition truck with an exclusive 'number one' emblem on the front... The auction web site attracted almost 165,000 visitors. All told, 35 bidders from all over Europe placed more than 95 bids for the first new Volvo FH during the ten-day eBay auction... The auction started on September 19th and was open for ten days to bidders from all over Europe, including Russia, Turkey and Israel...
* The Netherlands - DAF Trucks ready to implement EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval
Eindhoven,Netherlands -MHW Magazine -3 October 2012: -- As part of DAF Trucks introduction of EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval, factory bodied DAF LF and DAF CF models designed and built at Leyland Trucks, will be fully approved two years ahead of the deadline required for independent body builders... Staff at its showcase plant in Lancashire have been working closely with colleagues in their sister plant, DAF Trucks in Eindhoven, to comply with the new legislation, which comes into effect on 29th October 2012 for vehicles that are built in a single stage (complete) or as a chassis cab (incomplete) for later body fitment... A central part of the long period of planning has been the development of a comprehensive vehicle specification data recording system. This will be used to gather and hold the evidence that a vehicle conforms to the new regulations and it will enable a Certificate of Conformity to be created and downloaded anywhere in the EC to which a vehicle is being delivered...
* Germany - New Ford Transit: a triple

He had several successive versions, but Ford has changed its strategy for the most recent: there are now three types of Transit, plus a deluxe version for the transport of persons (Tourneo) Transit Connect, Transit Custom and Transit ... Transit Custom handles segment 1 tonne payload. Custom Transit was the precursor of this new range. It surprises with its dynamic design, its functionality, and within driving behavior improved significantly. It is available in regular cab or van and Combi twin... The Transit is the heaviest versions, to its Transit Connect account and complete the program in lighter versions...
* Germany - Volkswagen cuts European sales target by 140,000 vehicles, report says
Frankfurt,Germany -Reuters/Autonews (UK) -5 Oct 2012: -- Volkswagen has cut its internal 2012 sales target for western Europe by up to 140,000 vehicles, a German daily said, citing the group's works council head... The estimate is lower than the 250,000 figure reported last month by Handelsblatt, which the company had denied. Handelsblatt said the company was also slashing its planned production capacity this year... Citing a copy of a VW internal capacity planning report, the daily said management board member Michael Macht, in charge of production, had estimated up to 9.4 million vehicles would be built this year, down from the previous estimate of 9.7 million vehicles...
