* Germany - MAN SE to halt truck production for 4 weeks
Berlin,Germany -Reuters/Fox Business, by Andreas Cremer -October 27, 2012: -- MAN SE plans to halt production of heavy-duty vehicles for four weeks at two German factories as the economic downturn curbs demand from freight transporters and construction firms, company sources said... Stoppages at MAN will affect about 15,000 workers and initially be limited to five days starting on Monday, paralyzing headquarters in Munich and another plant in Salzgitter, the two sources said on Saturday on condition they not be identified because the matter is confidential. Truck production will be suspended again between Dec 24 and Jan 11, the sources said, confirming an article by Sueddeutsche Zeitung which reported the stoppages earlier on Saturday...
* Philippines - Van body maker to open third plant in Bulacan
Manila,Philippines -Business World -October 30, 2012: -- Truck and van body maker Centro Manufacturing Corp. will open its third production facility in Bulacan in the second quarter of 2013, doubling the company’s monthly manufacturing capacity to 900 units in line with an expected growth in demand, a senior company official said recently. The firm now operates two manufacturing plants: one in Caloocan City and another in Silang, Cavite, which both manufacture truck and van bodies, including the company’s best-sellers: the Mitsubishi L300 FB Deluxe and the Hyundai H100 Shuttle Van...
