* California / USA - Tesla Accused Of Operating Illegal Showrooms In 4 States
Palo Alto,CAL,USA -The Car Connection, by Richard Read -Oct 8, 2012: ... According to the National Automobile Dealers Association, 48 states have franchise laws that forbid or restrict the ability of automakers to sell vehicles directly to the public. That's why dealerships tend to be independently owned and operated. Tesla showrooms, on the other hand, are owned by Tesla itself... Tesla currently maintains 17 showrooms in 10 states and the District of Columbia, but it's set to open another six this fall...

Washington,DC,USA -Mothor Authority, by Nelson Ireson -Oct 5, 2012: -- A few weeks ago, discussions emerged among BMW owners of a faulty oil pump issue that could lead to catastrophic engine failure, without warning, in the 2013 BMW M5 and M6, including both Coupe and Convertible. Today, that issue has become a recall... The official NHTSA notice explains the problem: "Due to a manufacturing process error, the tolerance between the engine oil pump's drive shaft and the pump's rotor was not within specification. As a result, the pump's driveshaft could separate from the rotor" ... The result of that separation would be a sudden loss of oil pressure, potentially leading to complete engine failure, and thereby increasing the risk of a crash--not to mention a very expensive engine replacement...
