* Germany / Mexico - Daimler Trucks Mexico receives Delivery Orders for 140 Freightliner Trucks from Transport Service Providers
Stuttgart,Germany / Mexico,MEX -Daimler (PR) -Oct 23, 2012: -- In Mexico, two leading transport and logistics companies in Mexico have purchased a formidable package of 140 commercial vehicles of the medium-duty and heavy-duty types Freightliner Business Class M2 and Freightliner Cascadia. Daimler Trucks Mexico has won UNNE Corporate, the logistics company for special transport of construction materials and crude oil derivatives, as a new customer for 50 individualized Freightliner Cascadia trucks. The express- and package delivery service Estafeta already has several years of cooperation with Daimler behind it. The combination of state-of-the-art exhaust and safety technology in every one of the 90 ordered Freightliner trucks convinced the customer once again...
* Sweden - Deliveries from Volvo Trucks down by 6% in the first 9 months
Stokholm,Sweden -Volvo Group (PR) -24 Oct 2012: -- In September, deliveries in Europe totalled 3,716 trucks, down 9% compared with the same month in 2011. September deliveries in Western Europe were down by 16%, mainly because many customers are hesitating to make purchasing decisions in the present macroeconomic environment. However, in Eastern Europe truck deliveries increased by 7% to 1,365 trucks in September 2012. Volvo Trucks' strong position, especially on the Russian market, contributed to this upswing... September deliveries in Latin America decreased by 13% to 1,746 vehicles in comparison with September 2011. The reduction is mainly explained by very high deliveries in 2011 before the new Euro 5 emission standards were implemented in 2012... In North America truck deliveries decreased by 32% to 1,844 vehicles in comparison with September last year. The lower delivery pace is mainly related to lower demand in the market... In Asia truck deliveries totalled 847 trucks, 44% less than in September 2011. A market slowdown in parts of the region as well as declining construction activity in China contributed to the decrease...

Berlin,Germany -Agence France-Presse/Hurriyet Daily News -October 30, 2012: -- MAN, the truck-making arm of German auto giant Volkswagen, said on Oc. 28 that it was halting production at two sites and sending 15,000 staff home next week as it battles falling profits... A spokesman confirmed to AFP that two German plants, one in the southern city of Munich and another in the northern town of Salzgitter, would shut their doors and the staff would be forced to take leave from Monday to Friday... MAN employs approximately 52,500 people worldwide...
* USA - Navistar to Close Garland, Texas, Plant to Reduce Costs
Garland,TXS,USA -Dow Jones Newswires/Fox Business -October 31, 2012: -- Navistar International Corp. plans to close its Garland, Texas, assembly plant, as the embattled truck maker shrinks it manufacturing capacity in response to falling demand for commercial trucks... The plant near Dallas employs about 900 workers and has been Navistar's primary site for assembling heavy-duty trucks in recent years. The company intends to cease operations at Garland during first half of next year. Closing Garland is expected to lower Navistar's costs by increasing the utilization of other plants...
