2007-2011 Honda Element Recalled For Wiring Flaw

Washington,DC,USA -The Car Connection, by Richard Read -Sep 14, 2012: -- Honda has issued a recall for Element vehicles from the 2007 - 2011 model years. However, not all Elements are affected -- only those that shipped with the trailer hitch add-on... The Element's problem lies in its accessory trailer hitch wiring harness. According to a bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "The wire that supplies power to the trailer turn signal lights was inadvertently switched with the stop lamp wire" ... Due to the snafu, turn-signal lights on trailers attached to the Element will only work when the brake lights are illuminated. In other words, if you're hauling a trailer, and you're not hitting the brakes, the drivers behind you won't know that you're turning. That increases the risk of an accident... In all, NHTSA says that 5,216 vehicles are affected by the recall...
