* Japan - Isuzu Motors Q1 net profit more than doubles

Tokyo,Japan -MarketWatch, by Andrew Joyce -Aug. 3, 2012: -- Isuzu Motors Ltd. said Friday that its net profit more than doubled in the April-June quarter on solid domestic demand and a rebound from the impact of the March 11 earthquake in the year-earlier period... The Japanese truck maker, in which Toyota Motor Corp. owns a 5.9% stake, posted a net profit of 21.62 billion yen ($276.5 million) in the three months ended June 30, up from a net profit of Y8.74 billion a year earlier... Sales in the first quarter rose 37.7% to Y391.72 billion from Y284.39 billion a year earlier. Operating profit doubled to Y28.11 billion from Y14.37 billion... Disruptions to the truck maker's parts supply chain forced it to idle some domestic production lines in the year-earlier quarter... The company also cited better cost controls and strong demand in Japan on the back of post-quake reconstruction spending as having a positive impact on its bottom line in the latest reporting period... 


* Russia - DAF trucks make mark in

Moscow,Rusaia -Irish Trucker -1 August 2012: -- In May last year, DAF Trucks opened its own marketing and sales office in Moscow with the main objective to enlarge its presence on the Russian market... With the expansion of the Russian DAF network to thirteen Sales and Service Dealers, the start of a PACCAR Parts Distribution centre and the delivery of more than 3,000 trucks since May 2011, DAF Trucks Russia has made a successful start... With the fast growing Russian truck market, the interest in West-European trucks is also strongly increasing. The expectation is that by 2015 more than 36,000 will be registered in the heavy truck segment compared with 26,000 in 2011...


* India - Truck and Auto makers cushioned by UV and LCV sales amidst weak market

 Chennai,India -The Times of India, by Ishan Srivastava -Aug 2, 2012: -- Auto sales remained under pressure and July was no different. However, utility vehicle (UV) and light commercial vehicle (LCV) posted a positive growth despite cars, two wheelers, trucks and tractors manufacturers recording weak sales.Mahindra and Mahindra posted 32% growth on the back of strong demand for UVs, driven primarily by its newly launched XUV 500. Ashok Leyland posted a 25% growth due to strong sales of its light truck Dost which allowed it to make up for weaker numbers in other categories. Car makers with a favourable base saw growth whereas most others had a dull month. Incidents like Manesar have affected production of Maruti but the company still posted a 9% growth due to inventory and low base...
