* Missouri - OOIDA questions sincerity of new FMCSA policy

Grain Valley,Missouri,USA -Land Line, by Jami Jones -1 Aug 2012: -- The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration appears to be getting serious about putting chronically noncompliant motor carriers out of business and closing the door on chameleon carriers upon first perusal of a new policy set to publish in the Federal Register on Aug. 2... But after closer examination of the policy, the leadership of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association has doubts about the sincerity of the agency’s plan of attack... The document outlines the agency’s policy regarding review of authority applications, as well as suspension, amendment and revocation of current operating authority... The problem, in OOIDA’s opinion, is that the agency’s focus on technological fixes is totally misplaced...


* UK - VOSA reveals delayed OCRS overhaul will go live from October

London,EN,UK -Commercial Motor, by Chris Druce -1 August 2012: -- VOSA has revealed that its aborted changes to the Operator Compliance Risk Score (OCRS) system will now come into force on 1 October 2012... The agency had been set to shake-up OCRS from the 30 April but this date was missed. Technical issues at the eleventh hour saw a second start date of 1 July come and go too... The scoring system rates operators depending on their likelihood of being compliant. Forthcoming changes include the removal of predictive scoring and the introduction of a straight-to-red policy for an operator’s entire fleet for serious infringements...
