* Sweden - Scania orders defy European market gloom
Stockholm,Sweden -Reuters, by Niklas Pollard and Helena Soderpalm -Jul 20, 2012: -- Industry data from the European Automobile Manufacturer's Association showed registered sales of new vehicles plunged 17.8 percent in May, the sharpest fall since 2009... Truck maker Scania eased the slide in orders in the second quarter, defying a steep fall in demand in Europe... Volkswagen-controlled Scania, which sells roughly half its trucks in Europe, said orders for trucks and buses slumped 14 percent year-on-year in the second quarter... Operating profit at Scania fell to 1.93 billion crowns ($278.26 million) versus a year-ago 3.31 billion. Shares were up 6 percent to 122.60 crowns by 0858 GMT, easily outperforming the broader market... Volkswagen has in recent months renewed its push to forge a commercial vehicles group to take on market leader Daimler, tightening its grip on German truck maker MAN SE and appointing Scania's Chief Executive, Leif Ostling, to spearhead closer ties with the sweden truckmaker and its own trucks business...


* Italy - Iveco to Accept Bonds as Guarantee Against Financing, Leasing 

Milan,Italy -ADVFN, by Gilles Castonguay -21 July 2012: -- Iveco is offering to accept government bonds from customers as a guarantee against the financing or leasing contracts that they get from the Italian truck maker for the purchase of new vehicles, the latest measure deployed by Iveco to adjust to a crisis that has weakened demand for trucks across Europe... A division of Fiat Industrial SpA, Iveco is the fifth-biggest truck maker by market share in Europe's medium and heavy segments, according to IHS Global Insight... Iveco's offer comes about a month after it announced it was willing to accept as downpayment for the purchase of its trucks any credit that its customers had outstanding with the Italian government. These credits are estimated to total billions of euros for the goods and services provided to the public sector... In the first quarter, its sales in western Europe, a region that accounts for more than half of its total sales, fell 26.1% on the year, mostly due to poor performances in Italy and Spain...


* India - AMW unveils 4928 TR tractor, and 2528 TP tipper

The cabin also features an LED screen for entertainment, GPS navigation system, and sleeping berths for the driver in the night cabin version...


 * France - Renault Trucks Delivering All-Electric Refrigerated Trucks to Nestle Switzerland

Saint-Priest,France -Greener Ideal, by Nicholas Katers -July 20, 2012: -- Renault Trucks, Clean Tech fleet is an all-electric refrigerated truck dubbed the e-Truck developed in partnership with Nestle Switzerland...  The Renault e-Truck combines a refrigeration system powered entirely by electricity with drive components from the 13t Renault Midium. The drive train includes a 103 kW electric motor as well as a pair of lithium-ion batteries capable of holding 170 kWh. Renault Trucks included a regenerative braking system to recharge batteries during frequent starts and stops. A maximum speed of 56 miles per hour allows the battery to last longer but provides enough speed for city streets. The e-Truck can travel up to 87 miles per charge, providing optimal range for Nestle Switzerland’s local routes...
