* Germany - Daimler Trucks reaffirms 2012 profit forecast

Frankfurt,Germany -Reuters -Jul 2, 2012: -- Germany's Daimler, the world's largest commercial vehicles maker by revenue, reaffirmed the full year profit forecast of its trucks division despite temporary factors that will weight on its first-half figures... "High investments in our product offensive and the switch from Euro III to Euro V in Brazil caused the operating profit to drop slightly from last year's level. Both of these factors will also affect our results in the second quarter," said Daimler Trucks Chief Andreas Renschler on Monday... Daimler Trucks sold 426,000 vehicles last year, achieving earnings before interest and tax of 1.88 billion euros ($2.39 billion), translating to an operating margin of 6.5 percent...
* Germany - The Mercedes Actros receives the company's Antos
Stuttgart,Germany -Truck and Business, by Hendrik Despiegelaere -7 July 2012: -- During the presentation of the Mercedes Actros, it was said that the Axor would know no successor, and Mercedes has now Antos, a model derived from the Actros and dedicated to heavy distribution. Its range overlaps thus both models of the Actros and Axor old... The Antos is aimed at the segment of heavy distribution (food, construction materials, fuels, liquid high-volume goods, cars)... The Antos has yet received a clean appearance, with a bumper and headlights specific. The range comprises six Antos cab variants and three engine covers MMA 18 to 26 tons for a total train weight of up to 44 tons. Its chassis has been designed to support as many as possible superstructures with little adjustments...
* Spain - Stralis Hi-Way: Iveco opts for total quality

The Stralis Hi-Way is distinguished not only by its Euro 6 engines without EGR and a subtly upgraded cabin, but it heralds a new era of manufacturing at the Italian manufacturer, with total quality in focus... Hi-technology ESCR allows Iveco to be the only manufacturer to meet Euro 6 without EGR. This technological achievement was made possible by additional work on combustion and a patented dosing of AdBlue in the SCR system, which achieves an efficiency of 95% of the catalytic process... Beyond a slight restyling of the grille, we note first that the coefficient of aerodynamic drag has been reduced by 3% with new spoilers... The module Iveconnect combines several functions in a touchscreen: navigation, infotainment, access to support services, tools, fleet tracking, GPS, tachograph data downloading, but especially an assistant to the conduct and analysis tool for the conduct which was lacking until now to Iveco...
* Brazil - Volvo cuts 208 jobs at Parana truck factory
Parana,BR -Reuters -Jul 4, 2012: -- World number two truckmaker Volvo cut 208 jobs at a factory in Brazil in response to falling sales and weaker economic forecasts, the company said on Wednesday... The truckmaker will not renew short-term contracts for 155 workers and will lay off 53 other employees of 4,000 at a plant in the state of Parana producing motors and transmissions... Volvo's truck sales fell nearly 23 percent in the first half of 2012 from a year earlier... Brazilian dealership association FENABRE on Tuesday said it expects sales to fall 6.9 percent in 2012 compared with 2011, reversing its previous forecast for a 2.6 percent increase...
* Sweden - Truck-maker Volvo sells its Aero unit to GKN for $995 million
Stockholm,Sweden -The Associated Press/Canadian Business -July 05, 2012: -- Swedish truck-maker AB Volvo says it will sell its aeronautic unit Aero to British engineering group GKN for 6.9 billion kronor ($995 million) in a move to focus more on its core heavy vehicle operations... The company said Thursday the deal is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter and is expected to generate a capital gain of around 400 million kronor... Volvo says GKN won a bidding process to acquire the unit, saying it offers the best conditions for Volvo Aero's development and future...
