* Belgium - Cabotage: The UPTR wants targeted controls on foreign carriers

Liege,Belgium -Truck and Business, by Claude Yvens -28 June 2012: -- The Union Professionnelle du Transport et de la Logistique reiterates its calls for greater controls on what she calls 'illegal cabotage', which according to her advantage as shippers and customers. The federation said that they are jointly responsible for compliance with the rules on cabotage, concerning the carriage of goods by road... The UPTR goes even further, calling for better coordination of different control services (FPS Mobility and Transport, Social Inspection, NSSO), aimed specifically at foreign carriers, as well as their principals... Finally, the UPTR recalls that foreign carriers must declare, in advance, their activities in Belgium, with the FPS Employment and via a 'Limosa', under the EU rules on posting of workers...
