* India - Tata Motors Dharwad plant start operations

* Sweden - Volvo tractor design to be driver focused

Extensive fuel efficiency testing has led to recent Volvo truck design modifications, including a new bug screen position, hood/bonnet-mounted mirrors, and under bumper and side skirt extensions, making for improved air flow around tractors... This hyper streamlined vehicle will optimise fuel efficiency through an even better airflow design. In addition, the trailer will be matched to the tractor to further advance this sleek profile... Having almost purely been concentrated on the load/transport aspect historically, new trucks will have to accommodate drivers, and companies will be required to choose trucks that drivers love to operate...


* UK - Van market turnaround as registrations rise

London,EN,UK -Car and Van News -June 9, 2012: -- Britain’s van market staged a turnaround in May, rising for the first time in 2012... The market grew by 6.7 per cent, the rolling year figure up too but by just 0.4 per cent... The year-to-date figure is still down, however, May’s 21,303 registrations contributing to a total of 97,499, 11.7 per cent down on the same period in 2011... The latest figures were released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and SMMT Chief Executive, Paul Everitt, says that the return to growth in the van market is welcome...
