* China - VW to build 4 million vehicles in

Shanghai,SH,China -InAuto News (Rumania) -8 June 2012: -- Volkswagen Ag, plans to nearly double its production in China in the next few years...  China is Volkswagen’s biggest sales region and has been a driver for the company’s sales volume and profit in recent quarters.Last month VW said it will build a new plant in Urumqi, western China, capable of making 50,000 vehicles annually starting 2015.It will be VW’s seventh plant in China and will underpin its market-leading position in the world’s biggest car market...  The group delivered some 2.3 million vehicles in the China region in the 2011 fiscal year and reported a pro rata operating profit there of 2.6 billion euros ($3.4 billion), it said at the time...

* Italy - Alfa Romeo to unveil production-ready 4C next summer

Turin,Italy -InAuto News -8 June 2012: -- Alfa Romeo plans to unveil its 4C in production form next summer, months earlier than the January 2014 Detroit show, where it had been tipped to take its public bow... The 159-replacing Giulia saloon is on track and will be built at “two global production sites”, which hints at North America as well as Europe... Alfa parent Fiat has also confirmed that it will soon begin production of a new 1.8 litre turbocharged petrol engine... 


* Thailand - 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer enters production in

Rayong,Thailand -InAuto News (Rumania) -June 08, 2012: -- General Motors has recently announced that the very first 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer has been produced in Thailand, at the company’s Rayong plant... According to the car manufacturer, the very first 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer to leave the production line in Thailand is the top of the line LTZ model, equipped with the 2.8 liter Duramax turbo diesel engine, which has actually been borrowed from another Chevrolet model made in Thailand, the Colorado pickup...

* Indonesia - Honda begins construction work of new car plant in
Jakarta,Indonesia -Oncars.in -4 Jun 2012: -- In the Karawang Industrial Park in a suburb of Jakarta today, Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), marked the start of the construction work of its new car plant... The new plant that is expected to become operational by 2014 will have an annual production capacity of 120,000 units. Honda has unfused an investment of over 3.1 trillion Indonesian rupiah and will employ approximately 2,000 associated at the start of the production. Combined with HPM's current capacity of 60,000 units the tool production capacity will expand to 180,000 units...

* DC / USA - NHTSA investigating Toyota, Honda, GM vehicles for safety issues 
Washington,DC,USA -The Detroit News, by David Shepardson -June 8, 2012: -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday it is opening a preliminary investigation into the 2006-08 Toyota RAV4 over rust-related failure of rear tie rods... Separately, NHTSA said it will review a petition requesting investigation of GM´s, 2008 Saturn Outlook, and similar vehicles for loss of low beam headlamp illumination... NHTSA also said it was reviewing an April petition over alleged failures in stability control in 2005 Honda Pilot vehicles...

 * Japan - Toyota will launch super-small EV in Japan for about $12,600

Nagoya,Japan -Autoblog Green, by Danny King -Jun 8 2012: -- Toyota will start sales of a super-small electric vehicle in Japan for less than 1 million yen, or about $12,600 U.S...   The automaker's Toyota Auto Body division will add a seat and seatbelt in the COMS's cargo area in order to turn the little runabout into a vehicle built for two. The Japanese government is working out details of standards related to ultra-compact EVs and where they can be driven...

* Argentine - Renault cuts shifts at Cordoba plant

Cordoba,CBA,ARG -Subi Un Cambio, by Daniel Jatimliansky -7 June 2012: -- From 6 pm until 8 June, Renault Argentina suspended 2,000 workers at the plant in Santa Isabel, Córdoba, which produces the Clio, Symbol, the Fluence and Kangoo models. The head of corporate communications of the company Natacha Schvartz, she explained,  "it´s a normal operative regulation of stock" made to prevent accumulation of vehicles without market, resulting in high costs... The workers involved will be charged 75% of its assets...
