* Sweden - Volvo Truck Deliveries Down 4% In April

* In Europe declined 22% to 6,776 vehicles. Declined 27% in Western Europe and fell 2% in Eastern Europe... Production in Europe will be moderately increased during the third quarter to adapt to demand and to keep delivery times in line with customer expectations, Volvo said... * In North America were up 39% to 4,712 vehicles in April.
* In Latin America, deliveries declined 30% to 1,630.
* In Asia, the group delivered a total of 4,066 vehicles, up 9%.

* Belgium - Wabco inks deal to supply Iveco with brake technology
Brussels,Belgium -Fleet Owner -May 17, 2012: -- Wabco Holdings has signed a long-term agreement with Iveco to supply anti-lock braking technology to the truck manufacturer for its platform of light- and medium-duty trucks in Brazil. The deal begins in 2013... Brazil requires anti-lock braking (ABS) systems on new trucks, buses and trailers. The law requires 40% of all commercial vehicles sold in the country in 2013 to be supplied with the technology and 100% compliance in 2014, Wabco said...
* Italy - Iveco will not close its factory in Ulm

The plant in Ulm is a legacy of Magirus-Deutz, one of the companies being acquired by Fiat Iveco to form the consortium in 1975. * India - Heavy duty truck producers grapple with slump in sales
Mumbai,India -The WSJ, LiveMint (USA), by Shally Seth Mohile -14 May 2012: -- Tata Motors Ltd, which sells one out of every two trucks sold in India, is paring production of heavy-duty trucks by as much as 40% in May and June from a year earlier after demand unexpectedly slumped in April, according to four parts suppliers to the company on condition of anonymity... Sale of medium and heavy-duty trucks shrinks 18% to 16,190 units in the month of April. Sales of the company’s medium- and heavy commercial vehicles plunged 29% in April to 9,829 units from a year earlier... While suppliers and transport experts agreed that a production cut after March—typically the busiest month for the commercial vehicle sales—is an annual phenomenon, it’s for the first time in three years after the economic slowdown of 2008-09 that they are seeing rationalisation to such an extent...
* India - Ashok Leyland to launch 5 new products in FY13

Last year, 809,532 commercial vehicles were sold in India according to Society of Indian Auto Manufacturers. Ashok Leyland sold 101,990 units. SIAM has forecast CV sales will grow 9-11% in fiscal 2013, slower than the 18% in the last financial year... Ashok Leyland had signed an agreement to acquire the truck business unit of Prague, Czech Republic based Avia in 2006... Avia makes the D Line series of trucks... Apart from Avia, the Hinduja Group company will also launch 10x2 five-axle truck in the second half of 2012-13, a full-flat front engined bus, called Jan Bus, a new low floor 8 tonne mini bus and a new BSIV engine powered haulage truck in its U-Truck range, K Sridharan, CFO said in a conference call...
