TRUCKING STATISTICS WORLDWIDE * USA - DOT Freight Index Flat in July

Freight shipments 3.8 percent higher from July 2010

Washington,DC,USA -The Journal of Commerce -Sep 14, 2011: -- Shipments carried by the on-hire freight transportation industry were unchanged in July from June, according to the Transportation Department’s Freight Transportation Services Index... The Freight TSI is a seasonally adjusted index measuring month-to-month changes in freight shipments in ton miles. The index covers for-hire trucking, rail, inland waterways, pipelines and air freight... For the first seven months of 2011, the index was up 1.3 percent. The 108.3 readings in June and July were the second-highest since August 2008. Shipments have risen in eight of the last 15 months... Freight shipments rose 3.8 percent from July 2010 to July 2011 but remain below the 109.9 level of July 2008 (109.9) and the record July reading of 110.9 in 2005...


* Europa - Freight Forwarding Index stable

Brussels,Belgium -Truck Europe, by Claude Yvens -5 Sept 2011: -- Few changes in the August edition of the European Freight Forwarding Index: the activity index increased from 43 to 46 (although those questioned had expected 50), but this situation was primarily influenced by a drop in air freight volumes. Forecasts for the next two months point to an index rising to 56 or 57 with road and sea freight expected to remain more or less stable, and air freight to recover...


* Canada - TransCore's Canadian Freight Index sees double digit increase for August

Toronto,ONT,CAN -Truck News, by Lou Smyrlis -Sep 20, 2011: -- TransCore's Canadian Freight Index for the nation's spot market in August was up 10% from July 2011 and had a 12% increase year-over-year. August 2011 freight volumes were the highest for same month over the last five years... Equipment postings in August reached the highest levels for 2011, with capacity up over 11 percent from last month's total. Capacity was three percent above recorded levels for August 2010... The equipment-to-loads ratio remained virtually unchanged from the level established in July... TransCore's Loadlink freight matching database constitutes the largest Canadian network of carriers, owner operators, freight brokers and intermediaries and has been available to Canadian subscribers since its inception in 1990. Over 13 million full loads, LTL (less than truck load) shipments and trucks are posted to the Loadlink network annually. As a result of this high volume, TransCore believes its Canadian Freight Index is representative of the ups and downs in spot market freight movement and provides a historical account of the domestic and cross border spot market freight movement...
