LHV DEBATE * UK - Denby Eco-Link is not legal
DfT: Longer Heavier Vehicles, such as the Denby Transport Eco-Link vehicle, will not be permitted
London,EN,UK -Road Transport, by Christopher Walton -2 November 2010: -- The Department for Transport (DfT) has dismissed comments made by Denby Transport that indicated that the use of its 25.25m Eco-Link trailer is possible under the Road Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1986... A DfT spokeswoman said: "We have made it very clear that longer heavier vehicles - such as the Denby Transport Eco-Link vehicle - will not be permitted on UK roads for the foreseeable future"... Denby Transport director Dick Denby told Roadtransport.com on Thursday that a meeting between a DfT lawyer and the firm took place in September, resulting in a warning that the DfT would prosecute anyone who used a 25.25m trailer of any combination... However, Denby explained that he left the meeting under the impression that the Eco-Link would meet the Construction and Use regulations owing to the retractable rear axle on the first trailer...
