* USA - Trucking Conditions: Index rises in August
Nashville,IN,USA -Refrigerated Transporter -Oct 13, 2010: -- FTR’s Trucking Conditions Index edged higher in August 2010 to a reading of 2.3. The Trucking Conditions Index is a compilation of factors affecting trucking firms; the August reading—which is the sixth consecutive reading in positive territory—reflects a healthy environment for trucking... Strong manufacturing increases have generated truck freight above GDP. Expected freight growth of 4%, limited driver capacity, and fleet downsizing will keep the index in positive territory through 2011. The August Trucking Conditions Index and the current status of factors affecting the trucking industry are reported in the October issue of FTR’s Trucking Update... * Florida - Integrated Freight Buys Wichita Truckload Carrier
Sarasota,FLA,USA -Transport Topics -13 Oct 2010: -- Integrated Freight has acquired refrigerated truckload carrier Bruenger Trucking Co. for $11 million, the companies said... The deal brings 160 new tractors into Integrated Freight’s fleet, putting its total tractor count at about 700... Bruenger, Wichita, Kan., brings about $21 million in new business to Integrated Freight, making the combined carrier an estimated $60 million company... Like Integrated Freight, Bruenger is primarily a refrigerated carrier with some dry-van operations...

And more than 72% percent of the communities depended on trucks to exclusively deliver goods... Trucking goes clear out of the valley, goes out of the state and nationwide. So we're able to deal with that, bring that money from other places and back into the valley through wages, fuel uses and we buy locally... And Arlo G. Lott trucking company stays busy these days, with nearly 200 employees. Cole Prestwich with A.G.L Trucking, said "We have plenty of trucks, plenty of people wanting to drive a truck. We're doing quite well as far as Arlo G. Lott Trucking is concerned" ... Prestwich says the industry is doing well in the Magic Valley and even Eastern Idaho...
