* Carlisle - Major distribution deal for Stobart
Carlisle,EN,UK -HGV UK -October 6, 2010: -- Eddie Stobart Limited (ESL), a division of the Stobart Group – the UK’s leading provider of multimodal logistics solutions, has agreed commercial terms for a major new distribution contract with Britvic Plc, the soft drinks company... The new agreement, subject to final contractual documentation, will see ESL provide ambient transport solutions covering the whole of Britvic’s primary manufacturing and distribution activities in the UK... Under the new contract, ESL will undertake both deliveries into the company’s UK manufacturing facilities and customer deliveries from several Britvic distribution centres across the country... This is the first time Britvic has undertaken such a sizeable transport and logistics arrangement with a single provider, and is the largest distribution contract awarded by the company in the UK... * Burnley - EFS Group wins £1m LINPAC Allibert contract
Burnley,UK -Road Transport, by Kevin Swallow -8 October 2010: -- Haulier EFS Group has picked up a contract worth £1m to distribute plastic containers and trays throughout the UK for Linpac Allibert... The deal involves transporting plastic containers and trays, which are produced in France, Germany and Spain and used to display fruit and vegetables in supermarkets, to the UK and redistributing them from a site in Winsford, Cheshire... Key to winning the contract, says Steve Blackie, group business development director for EFS, was the company's ability to deliver the products quickly... A majority of the pallets will be sent through the UK Pallets network, of which EFS Group is a member... Once the work is established EFS Group expects to receive more than 50 truck loads from mainland Europe every month...
* Leeds - Norbert Dentressangle wins Biasi contract
Leeds,UK -Road Transport, by Joanna Bourke -8 October 2010: -- Norbert Dentressangle Transport Services has won a distribution contract with heating industry product supplier Biasi UK... The logistics company will collect palletised products including boilers and radiators from Biasi's Walsall, West Midlands manufacturing plant. It will then consolidate loads at its nearby Rowley Regis facility... Biasi will use Norbert Dentressangle's multi-site network, shared-user fleet and track-and-trace IT system... * London - Yodel wins delivery deal with Arena Flowers
London,UK -Road Transport, by Joanna Bourke -8 October 2010: -- Yodel has been appointed as sole delivery partner to online florist Arena Flowers... Yodel will deliver some 170,000 flower bouquets every year; the deal includes 24-hour and Saturday services... The win follows an eight-month trial with Yodel for all of Arena's deliveries outside London... Jonathan Smith, Yodel CE, says: "This is testament to the focus and service that we offer throughout the organisation, as well as our unique products, and we look forward to working closely with Arena in the future"...
* Oxford - "Big, bad debts" pushed Freight Shepherd into liquidation owing £500,000
Milton Park,Abingdon/Oxford,UK -Road Transport, by Joanna Bourke -7 October 2010: -- A series of large bad debts pushed Oxford haulier Freight Shepherd into liquidation, owing creditors more than £500,000, according to its former MD... The firm's statement of affairs shows it owes creditors a total of £582,043.55, but the majority of this relates to vehicle leases; trade creditors are owed £66,072; the total deficiency is £500,451... At its largest, Freight Shepherd was running 55 vehicles and 39 trailers, however, Bennett admits that over the past few months this had dwindled to 10 HGVs...
