TRUCKMAKERS' NEWS * USA - Workhorse reveals walk-in van dash and hood concepts

Union City,IN,USA -Fleet Owner, by David Cullen -Sep 28, 2010: -- Navistar International Corp.’s Workhorse Custom Chassis showcased several “industry-advancing concepts for the walk-in van market” at its vehicle display during this week’s International Baking Industry Exhibition in Las Vegas... An interior dash concept module shown provides a more ergonomic, driver-friendly instrument panel, according to Workhorse. Also on display was a more aerodynamic hood design concept, which the truck maker said body builders could integrate for better aerodynamics and improved fuel economy... A company spokesperson told FleetOwner that this marked the first time the dash module and aerodynamic hood design concepts have been publicly shown, with the purpose being for “customer engagement.” In addition, it was noted that there is no planned date for when these design concepts will be incorporated into production vehicles... Fleet Owner, by Jim Mele -Sep 29, 2010: -- As Nissan North America (Nissan NA) prepares to launch its first full-sized commercial van in the U.S. and Canadian markets, its parent company, Nissan Motor Co., has been busy growing its lineup of light commercial vehicles developed for Europe and other global markets... At the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover, Germany, last week, Nissan Motor Co. unveiled the NV400, a large van, it also showed the NV200, a small van introduced last year, as an electric-vehicle (EV) concept truck... The NV400 is unlikely to find a home in the U.S. and Canada. Nissan NA’s NV2500, which will go into production here in the U.S. early next year as a 2012 model, is roughly the same size as the NV400, but was specifically designed to meet North American market requirements, according to a spokesperson for Nissan NA...
