* Sweden - Volvo Trucks Launches New Construction Truck



Stockholm,Sweden -BUSINESS WIRE -April 19, 2010: -- Volvo Trucks has today launched its new Volvo FMX construction truck at the Bauma international machinery fair in Munich. With this new truck, Volvo Trucks aims to secure a strong increase in its market share of the construction segment... Volvo FMX is based on the FM truck, which itself is a successful and well-tested construction truck. Sales of the new truck in the European market will commence in September. An international launch will follow during the remainder of the year... * Brazil - MAN opens new production line for trucks

Resende,RJ,Brazil -Frontier India -April 15, 2010: -- A new production line for MAN vehicles is being officially opened today at the Brazilian plant in Resende. The more powerful engines and greater features of the MAN TGX and TGS ranges that are now to be produced there make them the perfect addition to MAN Latin America’s existing portfolio, which includes VW-branded model ranges... The new assembly line is designed to handle 5,000 heavy trucks a year. Test vehicles will be produced initially over the next few months... The investments in the production line and the supplier park total R$ 235 million (just under €100 million). 800 new jobs will be created at the Resende site, of which 100 will be on the new production line... A third shift was introduced at the Resende plant in March of this year to meet the strong demand for commercial vehicles in Brazil. Production capacity rose to 72,000 truck and bus chassis a year... * UK - Grant helps Cummins to fire on all cylinders

Tees Valley,Durham,UK -Transport Engineer -3 April 2010: -- The world's largest independent designer and manufacturer of diesel engines is planning to develop next generation Euro 6 clean diesels for ultra-low emission commercial vehicles in the Tees Valley... Grant helps Cummins to fire on all cylindersCummins says its decision to develop the new Euro 6 engines at its Darlington technical centre was helped by the conferral of a £600,000 grant from One North East, under the Tees Valley Industrial Programme (TVIP)... Jonathan Atkinson, Cummins chief engineer, explains that the grant will help the company to expand its product development operations and indicates that it will help to safeguard 135 jobs and lead to the creation of more...


* Germany - Volkswagen on the road to trucks empire

VW dropped plans to bring its own light commercial vehicles business into the alliance and will focus on Swedish truckmaking unit Scania AB and German peer MAN AG, in which VW has a voting stake of nearly 30 percent...


* Germany - CV registrations on increase

Berlin,Germany -HGV UK -April 15, 2010:
-- Monthly commercial vehicle registrations in Germany increased by 10 per cent in March to 25,740 compared with the same month last year... The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), says the increase was attributable to a 16 per cent increase CVs up to six tonnes, which offset a 3 per cent decline in CVs over six tonnes and a 9 per cent fall in bus registrations last month... A total of 19,090 light and medium CVs were registered in March 2010, up from 16,415 a year ago... Heavy truck numbers dropped to 6,194 units (6,382), while bus numbers fell from 502 to 456 units...


* UK - Nissan NV 200 scoops awards

* Australia - Cat-Brand Trucks to Roam Highways in

Melbourne,VIC,Australia -Australia's Diesel magazine/TruckingInfo (USA), by Steve Brooks -16 April 2010: ... The world's first Cat-branded trucks are about to be launched on the Australian market... At the recent Melbourne Truck Show, it was announced that two conventional models will become available within the next few months, first the CT 610 and soon after, the CT 630. The 610 will be powered by a 470-horsepower Caterpillar C13 Acert engine and the 630 by the C15 Acert at 550 horsepower... The models will be assembled from semi-knocked down (SKD) kits on a dedicated line within Caterpillar's Australian headquarters in Tullamarine, Melbourne...
