TRUCKER HERO * USA - Werner Driver Saves Girl By Performing CPR

Truck driver saved a 7-year-old girl after her mother's car ran off the road and hit a sign

Birmingham,ALA,USA -TruckingInfo -14 April 2010: -- On Feb. 10, Werner Enterprises driver Dave Nelson, saved a 7-year-old girl who stopped breathing after her mother's car ran off the road and hit a sign... Nelson pulled over the side of the road along Interstate 20 near Birmingham, Ala., when he saw Pam Carter, the girl's mother, out in the road trying to flag down help for her daughter... He moved Pam to safety as she explained that her daughter, Vicki, was still in the car and needed help. Vicki was not breathing and had no pulse. Nelson asked permission from her mother to begin CPR, then swiftly pulled Vicki from the car and laid her on the ground on top of his coat... While performing the lifesaving steps, Nelson conversed with Pam to keep her calm. He learned that Vicki had a heart murmur, just like his own daughter. Nelson performed CPR until paramedics arrived... The car was on its way to pick up father and husband Air Force Capt. Ryan Carter in Texas, when it car ran off the road. Carter grew worried as he waited in Texas for his wife and daughter. He had not seen them in the last three years, while he was stationed in Iraq...
