" ¿ .!.!. ? " * Europe - EU to legislate on truck colours
"This is a perfect example of European bureaucracy literally gone mad"
Brussels,Belgium -Road Transport, by Justin Stanton -1 April 2010: -- The EU is set to legislate on the colours that can be used in truck liveries, apparently in an attempt to address the industry's safety record... The so-called 'Tricolore Directive' will effectively dictate that all truck liveries must comprise of three colours in equal measure - white, red, and blue. The EU would like the directive to be enforced from 1 January 2012... Danish MEP Olaf Prilo, who sits on the European Parliament's safety committee, offers this statement: "Certainly, improving the safety record of the road transport industry is a priority for us... What I can confirm is that we have undertaken research into the main colours of the liveries of trucks involved in road traffic accidents. Having said that, I cannot comment on the outcome of that, except to say the most 'dangerous' colours are clear and we will announce those soon... "It is too soon to be talking about legislation, though."...

The Road Haulage Association is "incensed at what amounts to nothing more than yet another totally unenforceable Brussels legislative proposal," argues Kate Gibbs, RHA head of communications. "Members can be assured we will take every step to fight them on the beaches"...
