Atlantic powerhouse J.D. Irving, which owns both carriers, told local media it made the move to be closer to core customers in the industrial part of Saint John and port area...


* Ontario - OTA checks in with new member service

Toronto,ONT,CAN -Today's Trucking -22 Jan 2010:
-- The Ontario Trucking Association Truck Driver Licence Status Check will be offered to members ... Once a company logs onto the OTA's secure website and submits a list of drivers' licence numbers, OTA will submit the data to MTO on a quarterly basis for a status check on every driver. Discrepancies are immediately identified and the member is instantly notified by email of which drivers have been flagged for a licence status discrepancy... The information can be used to investigate the discrepancy or opt for an automatic issuance (with overnight electronic delivery) of an MTO detailed (three-year) driver abstract for the affected driver... The OTA says the Truck Driver Licence Status Check System will save money on MTO driver license checks, and ensures costs associated with drivers operating vehicles with invalid licences will be reduced...


* USA - England Logistics Opens China Offices

Salt Lake City,UT,USA -Transport Topics -22 Jan 2010: -- England Logistics said that it has given approval to operate in China and has opened offices in five cities... England was granted status as a wholly foreign owned enterprise, meaning it can operate international freight forwarding services in China and it is not required to work through agents or joint ventures, the company said Wednesday... Since being granted the status, England has opened offices in Shanghai, Ningbo, Qingdao, Dallan and Tianjin...
