The early success of these trucks in fuel and performance trials has led the company to order a further 25 units for delivery during the spring and summer of 2010... * Ireland - Scania special vehicles delivered for M6 road maintenance

Dublin,Ireland -HGV Ireland -January 8, 2010: -- N6 Operations Ltd, the company charged with maintaining the new M6 Motorway has recently taken delivery of three new special Scania trucks... A fourth Scania will soon be delivered to complete the order... The multi-wheeler Scanias have specialized equipment including a Palfinger crane, Hoctor bodies and most importantly demountable Romaquip salt spreaders and heavy duty snow ploughs for essential winter maintenance. Transport manager Peter Conway says that faced with rising fuel costs the company wanted to move from powering the blowers and tipping gear on their Feldbinder bulk powder tankers from a gearbox-mounted PTO to using a ‘self contained’ system... * UK - DAF records highest-ever market share

London,UK -Road Transport, by Kevin Swallow -8 January 2010: -- DAF Trucks recorded its highest-ever market share in 2009, despite registrations for all commercial vehicles dropping 36.2%, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT)... The firm held its position as the biggest seller of vehicles 6.0 tonnes and over, registering 8,317 units throughout 2009... Mercedes-Benz held onto second place with 4,219 units, increasing market share to 15.1%, with Volvo Trucks third, registering 3,100 units... Hino registrations dropped 83.1% to 100 units, MAN's fell 51.1% to 2,865 units, and Volvo Trucks by 50.3%... Dennis Eagle, which registered 781 units, was the least affected, down just 11.2% on 2008...
