COMPLAINS * Australia - 'Queue for two hours then told to go home'

Truckers are demanding action

Melbourne,VIC,Australia -Supply Chain -January 22, 2009: -- Wharf bottlenecks and capacity constraints at container parks are blowing out queuing delays at the Port of Melbourne ... The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) calls the delays – some drivers are waiting more than two hours for service – unacceptable, urging supply chain partners to address the issues... It wants shipping lines held accountable and container parks investigated for breaching chain of responsibility laws... Facilities for empty containers have reached operational capacity and are performing poorly, according to the VTA, and it’s costing transport operators in administration and delivery delays... * Enough is enough: More delays at Port Botany

Port Botany,Sydney,NSW,Australia -Supply Chain -January 25, 2010: -- Enough is enough, Port Botany carriers say, with delays blowing out to four or five hours due to computer outages... The industry lobby is calling on the State Government to step in and fix what it calls ongoing problems experienced by trucking operators at stevedore DP World's terminal at Port Botany... Operators experienced delays of up to five hours at the terminal on Thursday night due to technical issues. "This left those who had engaged drivers for the night to continue to pay for their services until operations resumed after 9pm"... Mike Moylan, a port carrier and chairman of the Container Group at the Australian Trucking Association's (ATA) New South Wales branch. says it is the latest in a "string of problems", with 28 significant delays for trucking operators since December 1 last year...
